“The service with VK was amazing from the moment I landed in Tanzania to the second I got dropped off at the airport. I always felt comfortable and at home, which is a lot to say coming from a different country. I always felt I could talk to any of the VK staff about any problems or concerns and they made my stay really fun… But what really made it for me were the people. From my host family to the strangers on the streets and the kids in school, everyone would always be so friendly and welcoming. I would be greeted by multiple people I did not know, which I felt was so heart-warming… Never have I met so many nice people, let alone all at the same time! I recommended VK because the experience itself has changed my life in such a positive way and I would not have been able to have this experience without such a solid, friendly and welcoming organization like VK!” — Jessica, Education Volunteer, January 2010-April 2010
“I was able to really experience Tanzania because our stay was outside the cities. Arusha was definitely a bit overwhelming and so it was nice to be part of a smaller community – even though it hit me that there are many more people in Tarakea than you would expect. The morning walks were my favorite, right past Mt. Kilimanjaro… I also really loved teaching math and sharing some new methods with the teachers.” – Tara, Education Volunteer, July 2010
“What VK really has going for it is the relationship it is continuously developing with the community. I found it incredible that VK allowed me to become a part of the community, thereby increasing the efficacy of my work.” — Wyatt, Computer Literacy Volunteer, March 2010-April 2010
